The two-alarm fire broke out about 6:30 a.m. Monday in a first-floor unit and spread up a corner of the four-story building at 1605 Bellevue Ave. Firefighters reported they had it under control at 7:30.

The fire burned balconies, broke windows and scorched the roofline, but the mostly brick building remained standing. A sign says it will be torn down to make way for a 103-unit residential building.

The fire department says one firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated at Harborview Medical Center.
