District spokeswoman Patti Spencer said the district would soon release more detailed information, including the number of certificated employees receiving layoff slips. The human resources department, she said, was finalizing the process.

“It is always our hope, and has often been the case in the past, that a certain number of certificated staff could be called back after a RIF (reduction in force) based on retirements and resignations as staff move or leave for other reasons,” the news release also says.
